Atlanta Supercross 2017 – SoCal SuperTrucks

Round 8 of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross series was held inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA. The track was challenging and the riders had their work cut out for them.

Blake Baggett #4RMATVMC 450SX
Blake was looking good in qualifying and set the 5th fastest lap coming into the night show. His speed was there and he looked very comfortable aboard his Rocky Mountain ATVMC KTM 450SX.
BB-4In his heat race, Blake would get off to a great start and would make quick work to move into the lead on lap 1! Blake would continue to pull away from the rest of the field and earn his first 450 Heat Race Win of the season! This was an awesome moment for the whole RMATVMC KTM team.
In the Main Event, Blake would find that sweet spot on his KTM 450SX once again and come out of the first turn in the third spot. After just a couple laps, Blake would move in the second spot and continue to charge and put in flawless laps. A hard charging Eli Tomac would end up catching Blake to put him in the third spot. Blake would stay focused and put in solid laps to cross the line in 3rd for this first 450 Podium of the season! Blake and the whole RMATVMC KTM team were ecstatic on his awesome performance tonight in the Georgia Dome! We can’t wait to see what he has for us next weekend.

Davi Millsaps #18RMATVMC 450SX
Davi Millsaps would have an unfortunate turn of events in the Georgia Dome after what has been an impressive season so far. Davi would suffer a wrist injury from a crash in practice early in the day. He sat out of the first qualifying session to nurse his wrist and came back in the second qualifying session to see if he could push through the pain. Unfortunately the pain was too much and Davi decided to sit out for the rest of the night and have it checked out.

Broc Tickle #20 – Yoshimura RCH Suzuki
139729_multiple_sx17_atlanta_jk_0629Broc got off to a great start in his heat race. He put the power of his Yoshimura RCH Suzuki to the ground and grabbed the holeshot! A slight mistake on lap 1 would let the hard charging points leader Ryan Dungey get around him in the whoop section. Chad Reed would approach later in the race to battle for the 2nd spot. The two would have a close battle to the finish and Broc would end up taking the third spot and a spot in the Main Event.
BT-1-1In the Main Event, Tickle wouldn’t get the start he pulled in the heat race. He would come out of the first turn in the middle of the pack. Broc also had some troubles in the sand section with a cluster of riders all fighting for positions and making contact. After almost laying it down, Broc would regroup and find himself at the back of the pack. After what was a frustrating first lap, Broc kept his focus and laid down consistent laps to try to salvage as many points as possible. By the time the race was over, Broc made his way from 19th up to 14th. He will definitely regroup and be back ready for battle in Toronto this weekend.
