Baggett Charges to a top ten finish; Bloss Returns to Racing at Glendale | SoCal SuperTrucks Supported Team RMATV/MC Race Report

SoCal SuperTrucks Supported Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC took on Round 4 of Monster Energy Supercross in Glendale, AZ this past Saturday with Blake Baggett finishing inside the top ten, and Benny Bloss returning from an injury sustained in Round 1.

Blake Baggett

Blake Baggett entered the Stadium at University of Phoenix ready to battle it out for a podium, but unfortunately would not be so lucky this round.  Starting the day off, qualifying went well, with Blake registering the 5th fastest time.  When it came time for his heat race,  his luck turned for the worse.  He was involved in a large pile-up at turn one that would put Blake all the way into last place, but we all know not to count out “El Chupacabra”.  After this set back he focused up and would steadily make his way through the pack to finish the heat in 8th place.  Enough to get him straight through to the Main Event!

The Main Event would oddly go similarly for Baggett, with a less than desirable start.  This saw him rounding turn one buried deep in the field.  Again, Blake found his focus and stayed on the gas.  He would whisk past position after position and eventually beak into the top ten for a 9th p;ace finish.  With the points he earned, he would remain in 8th spot for the championship running.

After the race Blake would go on to say, “I feel good about the weekend’s results.  With the bad starts and coming from the back, the tracks have been very tough to pass in the main events. Track position early is key in the main and that’s one thing we are going to work on. We’ll regroup this week and come into Oakland ready.”

Benny Bloss

After a crash at Anaheim 1 that benched Benny Bloss for the previous two nights racing, he was anxious to make his return in Round 4.  Despite the technical track in Glendale, Bloss looked comfortable in qualifying, as he would set the 19th fastest time of the day.  Although missing out on a transfer position in his heat, Benny would overcome in the LCQ, taking the lead and holding it to win, putting him through to his first Main Event of the Season!

Regrettably, the Main Event did not go as smoothly as the LCQ for the #60 rider.  As the gate dropped, his start would end him up mid-pack.  Then, Bloss would then encounter another setback when his front end washed out, causing him to retreat to the mechanics area.  Minutes later he would return to the track, albeit, a few laps down.  Benny finished the laps and cross the checkered flag in 20th position.

When asked about his performance that night he said, “Overall, the night was just okay, I struggled a bit in the heat race but turned it around in the LCQ with the win,” said Bloss “My main goal for the weekend was to have solid consistent laps. Unfortunately, I had a little issue in the main event. The main thing is we are healthy and ready for more next weekend in Oakland.”
