Baggett Claims 3rd for the Third Time This Season at Arlington SX | SoCal SuperTrucks Supported Team RMATV/MC Race Report

Round seven of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, Series headed to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, this past Saturday night for yet another night of white knuckle, bar-to-bar racing!  Blake Baggett found himself once again on the podium for the third race in a row, and Benny Bloss continued to improve while the team’s 250SX East rider, Anthony Rodriguez, started his season.

Blake Baggett

Qualifying for Blake went well in Texas, as he was able to post the 5th fastest time of all the riders.  As the gates dropped on his heat race, he rocketed off the line, barley missing the holeshot.  Baggett went on to ride consistently around the demanding track, and was able to finish his laps in 5th place, sending him straight to the main event.  The start of the main event proved similar to the heat, as the #4 nearly missed the holeshot again! As the race wore on, Blake would lose a couple positions, but put his head down and charged back up to 4th place as the clock hit the mid-way point.  He would then go onto close the gap on third and overtake Anderson for his 3rd podium finish in a row! This impressive performance at Arlington propels Blake Baggett into 3rd place in the championship points standings, only four points away from second.

I feel good about tonight’s ride,” said Baggett. “Coming in, I wasn’t feeling well, but I pulled it together with two decent starts and rode consistently for my third podium. While it feels good, we’ll keep pushing for those two top positions.”

Benny Bloss is continuing to improve and looked solid in Arlington. In his heat, Benny charged from deep in the pack, working his way to finish 7th and transfer straight to the main. In the main, Benny put down consistent laps and charged to a 14th place at the checkered flag.

It was the team’s 250SX East rider, Anthony Rodriguez debut ride Saturday, as he started his season aboard the #56 KTM. Anthony looked comfortable out of the gate, as he put down the 14th-fastest time of the day. A solid start helped him in his heat race as he battled for a transfer spot to the main. He made a last-lap pass to finish 9th and put himself straight through to the main event. Unfortunately, in the main, Anthony got caught up in a first-turn pileup that sent him flying through the air and ended his night.
