It was a podium night for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC -KTM-WPS as round nine of the 2019 AMA Supercross season headed to Atlanta, Ga and Mercedes-Benz Stadium this past Saturday night.
Blake Baggett came into Atlanta ready for battle! From the start of his night he was at the front of the field. Starting with his qualifying heat, Baggett led the pack into the first turn to secure the holeshot. He rapidly pulled away, hitting his lines every lap and showing confidence on the technical track. He never gave up control of the lead until he took the checkered flag for a wire to wire victory. He brought that speed into the main event, rounding the first turn in third place. Blake stayed on the gas but rode a strategic race, moving into second halfway. He then started to close the gap late in the race, pressing Cooper Webb for the lead. After that late charge, he crossed the checkered flag in 2nd place.
“I’m happy with my ride tonight,” said Baggett. “The track was tough and I had to stay focused out there. I just came up a bit short. We’ll keep digging and be ready to get that second win in Daytona next weekend.”
Justin Bogle made it to the main event by way of a solid ride in the LCQ, where he took the lead before the end of lap one and never looked back, ultimately taking the win. His main event didn’t go as smoothly, however. He started at the back of the pack and had to work his way forward to the checkered flag, finishing the night in 14th.
“Overall it was a positive night ,” said Bogle. It felt good to get that win in the LCQ and a boost in my confidence. While I didn’t get the start I needed in the main, I am happy with my ride. We are still progressing and moving in the right direction. I’m looking forward to next weekend in Daytona”
