Round 4 of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series was held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ. Both of the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM boys showed up ready for battle with some amazing qualifying times! Blake Baggett threw down the fastest lap time in qualifying and Davi Millsaps ended up with the third fastest time. Broc Tickle would end up in the fifteenth spot after qualifying.
Blake Baggett #4 – RMATVMC KTM
With the fastest qualifying time of the day, Blake would enter Heat #2 with great confidence. After just a few turns, Blake would be in third place with teammate Davi Millsaps in his sights. Blake would have to battle through the whole race to hold off a charging Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey right on his rear fender. Blake proved he had the speed and held on to the third spot to transfer to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Blake got off to a mid-pack start and would have to fight his way through traffic to get towards the front. Blake would quickly start picking off riders and putting in consistent laps to move forward. He would charge up to catch teammate Davi Millsaps and make a pass on him to move into the 6th spot. After a mistake a couple turns later, his teammate would pass him back and put him into 7th. Blake would fall back slightly after a mistake and ride to a respectable 7th place finish in the Main Event.
Davi Millsaps #18 – RMATVMC KTM
After throwing down the third fastest lap in qualifying, Davi would be placed in Heat #2 with teammate Blake Baggett. Coming out of the first corner in 5th place, Davi would quickly move up and pass his teammate to enter the second place spot. He would continue to charge and make quick work of Justin Brayton to take the lead. Millsaps made it clear that he had the speed here in Phoenix and took the win in Heat #2 to transfer to the Main Event.
Davi would use the power of his KTM 450SX-F to be the first one to the first corner in the Main Event. Points leader Ryan Dungey would cut inside and cause Millsaps to lose a few spots and fall back to about sixth place. He would quickly turn around and charge his way back into the top 5 where he would have an intense battle with Malcom Stewart and Chad Reed. After the heated battle and multiple passes back and forth, Millsaps would sit in 6th place. He would charge his way to the checkered flag to an impressive 6th place finish.
Broc Tickle #20 – RCH Yoshimura Suzuki
Broc Tickle struggled with his starts all weekend in Phoenix. After a mid-pack start in Semi #2, he would run into another small mistake that would set him back to 16th place. He would regain his composure and put in a good ride to end up in 12th place and have to head to the Semi. In Semi #1, Broc would grab a 6th place start in the Semi but would quickly charge his way up to the 4th spot. He wouldn’t stop there. By the time the checkered flag waved, Broc would grab a spot on the podium and finish 3rd for a spot into the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Broc got a great jump off the gate but would get pushed to the outside and end up towards the back of the pack. Broc would find his rhythm and move his way up to 13th place where he would spend the rest of the race. We hope Broc can get that start he has been looking for and run up front where he deserves to be!
