Round 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross series was held inside the Oakland Coliseum. With a good amount of rain leading up to the race, the track conditions would be challenging.
Blake Baggett #4 – RMATVMC KTM
SoCal SuperTrucks rider Blake Baggett got off to a great start in Oakland with a 7th fastest qualifying time. He would continue to show that speed in his heat race as he got off to a start just out of the top 5. He quickly began his charge and was able to work his way up to a podium position and finished 3rd to head straight to the main event.
In the Main Event, Blake would get a mid pack start and would battle to gain positions in the fierce field of top riders. Putting in consistent laps, he would battle with teammate Davi Millsaps for a bit and cross the finish line in 7th place when the checkered flag waved. This solid 7th place finish would put Blake in 11th place in points for the Championship.
Davi Millsaps #18 – RMATVMC KTM
Davi Millsaps got off to a rough start in his heat race when a mistake put him off the track and onto the ground. This mistake would cost him a trip to the Semi. He would have much better luck in his semi. After a great start he would end up in the 2nd spot after the first turn. Davi rode smart and held off the competition to finish 2nd and earn a spot in the Main Event.
Davi would get a great jump out of the gate and come out of the first turn in the top 5. Competition was tough as the track conditions were challenging. Davi continued to charge and put in consistent laps to hang on to a 6th place finish. Davi currently sits 5th in points in the Championship.
Broc Tickle #20 – RCH Yoshimura Suzuki
Broc got off to a good start first thing in Oakland. He grabbed a good start in his heat race and was consistent the whole race. A solid performance lap after lap would put him in 4th place by the end of the race right in from of current points leader Ryan Dungey. A transfer to the Main Event from the first heat race would give Broc a chance to rest up a bit.
In the Main Event, Broc would get pinched off coming in the first turn which would put him towards the back of the pack. In typical Tickle fashion, Broc continued to charge throughout the race and battle through the competition. After 20 minutes on the brutal, deteriorating track, Broc would have worked his way up to a respectable 11th place finish. Broc currently sits in 14th overall in points for the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Championship.
