Round 14 of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross was held in Seattle, WA. The weather was a concern going into the weekend and it came down pretty good leading up to race day. Luckily the track crew did an amazing job and got most of the water off the track. The wet dirt made for a rough track throughout the day and would make it that much tougher on the riders.
Blake Baggett #4 – RMATVMC KTM 450SX
Blake got a great jump in his Heat Race and rounded the first turn in 2nd but came out of the first section in about 5th after he had to roll the rhythm section. Blake would make a pass on Chad Reed to put him up into 4th Place. He rode smooth and finished in 4th Place to earn a transfer spot straight to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Blake got a decent start and would find himself in 6th place on lap 1. He looked good on the bike and was riding a good race until a mistake put him back as he tried to get around Malcolm Stewart. Once he got back on the bike, he would find himself down to 10th Place. He put on a charge and was able to make his way back up to 7th by the end of the race.
Davi Millsaps #18 – RMATVMC KTM 450SX
Davi got off to a great start in his Heat Race and pulled the holeshot! He would come out of the first rhythm section in 2nd as Cooper Webb charged to the front. Davi rode great the whole race and wouldn’t have any challengers to take away his position. He would cross the checkered flag in 2nd and head straight to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Davi got another great start and would find himself in about 3rd Place. With the harsh track conditions, he would make a couple mistakes and slip back a couple positions early in the race. Millsaps would find himself in 4th Place for most of the race and rode a solid race with very little mistakes. He would slip back to 5th Place on the last lap after Dungey would charge to make a final pass before the checkered flag. Millsaps fought back but couldn’t make a pass stick and would take 5th in the Main Event.
Broc Tickle #20 – Yoshimura RCH Suzuki RM-Z450
Broc didn’t get the greatest jump in his Heat Race and would have to work his way up from about 11th Place to earn a transfer spot. He made a few passes early on and was able to move his way up to 7th Place. Unfortunately he would fall just short of a transfer spot and would have to head to the Semi race.
In the Semi race, Tickle would once again struggle with his start. He would have to work his way up from 8th and try to earn a transfer spot. He did just that and didn’t let the rough track get the best of him. He would work his way all the way up to 3rd place to earn himself a transfer spot to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Tickle got a good jump out of the gate and would find himself sitting in 7th Place on lap 1. Despite all of the chaos on this brutal track, Broc would ride his own race and limit his mistakes. This would pay off for Tickle as he didn’t lose much ground and kept it consistent. Broc would find himself in 6th for most of the race until Ryan Dungey would put in a charge and get around him. He would regain a position to end up finishing the Main Event in 6th Place.
