SoCal SuperTrucks backed Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS took on the world this past weekend in at WW Ranch in Jacksonville, Florida at the MXGP World Championship’s stop in the US. With Blake Baggett out for a procedure on his thumb, it was up to Benny Bloss in the MXGP class and Dakota Alix in MXGP2 to fly the American flag at the USGP.
Being that the race spanned 2 days with the qualification race on Saturday, and the actual motos on Sunday, it allowed the riders to get comfortable with the rough, yet soft terrain of the WW Ranch GP style track. As Moto 1 started, Blose was able to get a solid start inside the top twenty. He would then continue to charge up to 12th place, but unfortunately ended up having to pull off the track due to a health-related issue around lap seven. Moto 2 proved better for Benny, where he finished 13th scoring points to earn him 19th overall.
Dakota Alix in the MX2 class started the weekend strong as he grabbed the holeshot in Moto 1, but unfortunately that was the end of his good fortune. His moto went down shortly after that and a crash would end up aggravating his previously injured groin, ultimately ending his day of racing.
Team RMATV/MC will be taking a short break before preparing for the 2018 Supercross season, starting with the Monster Energy Cup in October.
