The riders would head North of the Border to Toronto, ON in Canada for Round 9 of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series. We are about half way through the Supercross season and things are really starting to shape up in the current Championship Points.
Blake Baggett #4 – RMATVMC KTM 450 SX
After an amazing podium finish in Atlanta last weekend, Blake would come into Toronto with some gained confidence. This confidence would definitely be in Baggett’s favor. In Heat 2, Blake would come out of the first turn in about 6th place. He made quick work of Vince Friese to move into 5th and it wasn’t too long before he caught and passed Justin Barcia to move in the 4th and final transfer spot and head to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Blake would put the power of his RMATVMC KTM 450SX to the ground and grab an incredible holeshot! Eli Tomac came out swinging and would take over the lead on lap 1. Blake was riding very impressive once again and holding down the 2nd spot until a mistake put him on the ground after the sand section. He hit his head but got up quickly and remounted in the 4th position. He got back into his rhythm and got passed teammate Davi Millsaps for the third spot. Ryan Dungey would charge and catch up to both Davi and Blake to put Blake into the 4th spot. A lap rider would cause Blake to go down once again and he would lose another spot and find himself in the 5th position where he would end up by the end of the race. Blake currently sits in 8th place in the Championship points with 8 rounds left to go.
Davi Millsaps #18 – RMATVMC KTM 450 SX
Davi would get off to a good start in the top 5 in Heat 1. He would put himself in the 3rd spot within the first lap and continue to charge. Davi thought he had some breathing room in the last turn and got a surprise pass at the checkered flag from Marvin Musquin who he passed earlier in the race. He would end up with 4th place and a transfer spot to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Davi would again grab a start in the top 5 and begin charging to try for a podium position. He would make his was up to third place after a crash from his teammate Blake Baggett would drop him out of the second spot. Davi would struggle with a couple mistakes and would drop down to seventh place. He would find himself in 7th place for the rest of the race until the checkered flag waved. Davi Millsaps currently sits in 6th Place in the Championship Points with 8 rounds left to go.
Broc Tickle #20 – Yoshimura RCH Suzuki
Broc Tickle got off to a good start in Heat Race 2 and would find himself in the top 5 out of the first turn. He would settle into 7th place by the time things settled down after the first lap and would have to fight for a transfer spot to the Main Event. After an intense battle with Justin Barcia, Broc would secure the pass for the 5th spot. Unfortunately that’s where he would finish and have to take a trip to the Semi.
In Semi 2, Broc would be penalized by FIM for an altercation with Justin Barcia after the Heat Race and would have the last gate pick instead of the first gate pick he earned from his finish in the heat race. That didn’t seem to hold Broc back as he still came out of the first turn with the lead! Tickle would ride a solid race and take the win and a transfer spot to the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Broc would grab another great start and find himself in the 3rd spot! This would be the best we have seen from Broc yet this season and he would have to charge to hold on to that podium position. A crash from Baggett early on in the race would move Tickle up to the second spot. Tickle was riding very impressive, but a hard charging Ryan Dungey would eventually catch him and take over the second spot. Tickle never gave up and held onto third for his first podium finish of the season! Broc currently sits in 10th place in the Championship points with 8 rounds left to go.
