Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC made a stop in its home state as round five of the 2019 Pro Motocross Championship series visited WW Ranch MX in Jacksonville, FL for the first time in the season’s history this past weekend. Blake Baggett, Justin Bogle and Benny Bloss kept the charge on the toughest track they have faced this season.
Blake Baggett felt at home on the sandy WW Ranch track, as he posted the 8th fastest time in morning qualifying. The gate dropped for moto one and Blake found himself buried at the tail end of the top twenty. Despite the bad start, he put his head down and made a push into the top ten, crossing the checkered flag in 8th. Moto two had Blake fighting his way forward yet again after starting outside the top ten. He battled the toughest conditions of the season to take 9th place earning 10th overall at the end of the day.
“Today was a tough one,” said Baggett. “While it was hot today, I felt good out there and charged through the moto. I just didn’t get the starts I needed to battle at the front. We will regroup and be ready to fight for a podium spot at Southwick.”
Justin Bogle would have a challenging race, as he came down with a virus Friday afternoon and unfortunately had to tough it out in the insane heat and humidity on Saturday. In moto one he finished the first lap back at the tail end of the pack. He soon found his rhythm and worked his way inside the top twenty, taking the checkered flag in 19th. Moto two had Justin working his way forward from outside the top twenty at the start. He charged his way forward and crossed the finish line just outside the top ten in 12th to earn 15th overall.
“Racing sick was not fun,” said Bogle. “Doing it in this heat was a challenge for sure. For how my body feels, I am happy I was able to collect points in both motos. I look forward to resting up and coming into Southwick 100%”
Benny Bloss would charge in the first moto and put on a strong ride in the heat. He would battle from outside the top twenty to 13th by the checkered flag. Benny would have a solid second moto run until suffering a mechanical issue, which sent him into the pit area. He was able to return to the race, but all in all, it wasn’t the weekend he was looking forward to. Benny loves Southwick and is excited to take it there for round six this weekend.
